Supplies List:
To make a journal
(if you don’t want to make a journal, take a ready made one, or take old chidren’s board book, or create art on loose paper)
6+ cereal boxes, I used 12, you can use watercolor paper if you prefer
Book binding thread OR plain yarn that you use to knit with
Beeswax block or candle (to wax yarn if you are not using book binding thread) – optional
Awl (to make holes in the folios), you can also use large sharp nail
To paint pages of the journal:
Found objects for stamping into wet paint (e.g. textured wallpaper, doilies, porcupine stick, plastic and rubber shapes)
White gesso
Black and clear gesso (optional)
Acrylics (I used Titanium Buff, Flesh Tint, Neutral Grey Value 5)
Roller (rubber and foam roller)
Palette knife
Large Brush
Inks (I used W&N Raw Umber, Antelope Brown) (optional)
Optional additions:
Napkin with nice patterns
Envelopes with pretty patterns inside
Shopping tags (about 20)
Tea bags, emptied, unfolded and dry (6-8)
Plaster sheets of plaster rolls (plaster of paris rolls used to wrap around broken arm, sold in drug stores) – 1-2 rolls to reinforce journal cover
To make artworks inside the journal:
Found objects (I used hardened lace, sticky tape cardboard roll, circular stamps)
Brushes
Acrylics (I used cadmium red light and dark, indigo, cadmium yellow, phthalo turquoise, white)
Oil pastels
Page with a face from a magazine
Scratching tool
